Steel 630 plate has excellent corrosion resistance. Steel 630 plate withstands corrosive attack better than any of the standard hardenable alloys steel 630 plate and approaches the corrosion resistance of the standard austenitic stainless steel grade 304 in most media.

In solution treated Condition A the grade has lower resistance to stress corrosion cracking, and lower ductility compared to aged conditions. It should not generally be used in the solution treated condition, even if the hardness is considered satisfactory.
