A2 Tool Steel 1.2363

A2 Tool steel is one of the "A" Class cold worked steels in ASTM A681 standard. A2 tool steel is a general-purpose, air-hardened chrome tool steel that can replace O1 tool steel when safer hardening, less deformation, and higher wear resistance are required. The wear resistance of A2 section steel is between O1 oil hard tool steel and D2 high carbon and high chromium tool steel.

A2 steel is heat-treatable and has a hardness range of 57-62 HRC. ASTM grade A2 steel has good toughness and moderate wear resistance and is relatively easy to work with. Tool steel A2 is used in many applications that require good wear resistance and good toughness.
